PRECAUTIONARY WATER BOIL ADVISORY
RACETRACK DRIVE/HACIENDAS SAN GABRIEL AREA
EFFECTIVE: Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 3 p.m.
The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) has completed a water line connection and restored water service to the Racetrack Drive/Haciendas San Gabriel Area following an outage that began last night.
Under its Proactive Safety Protocol, CRRUA has issued a Precautionary Water Boil Advisory for the area, which is a standard procedure due to the large area impacted.
CRRUA will issue another update when the Advisory is lifted. Updates are posted on crrua.org and Facebook.com/crruainfo/
WATER SERVICE IS RESTORED
Water pressure may remain low for a short time while the lines pressurize. Customers may notice temporary water discoloration caused by naturally occurring minerals in the distribution system. CRRUA recommends waiting until the water runs clear before washing laundry. The discoloration should clear within 24 hours. If it persists, customers should run cold water for several minutes until it clears. Those who continue to experience discolored water should contact CRRUA Customer Service at 575-589-1075 or the after-hours emergency line at 575-202-7173.
PRECAUTIONARY WATER BOIL ADVISORY ISSUED
When the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory is issued, residents should not drink the water without boiling it first. As a standard precaution, bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute and let it cool before using. This applies to water used for:
- Drinking and cooking
- Brushing teeth and making ice
- Washing fruits and vegetables
- Preparing baby formula
- Providing water for pets

CRRUA will send water samples to an independent laboratory certified by the New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) to conduct quality testing. The precautionary advisory will be lifted as soon as laboratory results confirm that the drinking water meets all NMED safety and quality standards. CRRUA will notify residents immediately through its website, Facebook page, and the Sunland Park Connect app as soon as the precautionary advisory is lifted.
